While Lakhs of students are awaiting the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s verdict on the UGC guidelines to conduct examinations by September 30, The SC was likely to deliver its judgement on August 26 (today) as Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava, petitioner on behalf of the students to cancel the examinations, tweeted on August 24. However, he made it clear that it is just a tentative date and nothing has been confirmed by the SC yet.
On August 25, Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastasva took it to the twitter and clarified that the matter is not listed on Supreme Court’s cause list today and so it is more likely of the SC to not deliver its judgement on the same. The tweet read,
“Our #UGC matter is not listed in tomorrow’s Supplementary Cause List.
Thus, SC is UNLIKELY to pronounce final order tomorrow.
I really wish and hope that the final order is passed ASAP.
Uncertainty is causing severe anxiety to the students!
Will update once final order is notified”
Earlier, Advocate Srivastava also expressed his concern for the final year students as “their anxiety and mental stress are unimaginable”. A sooner judgement shall be a welcome move as a large number of students are hanging on the cliff. The Supreme court has already reserved it judgement on this matter on August 18.
