SUPREME COURT TO HEAR FORMER IPS OFFICER SANJIV BHATT’S PLEA.


    Former IPS officer filed a plea challenging the Gujrat High Court which declined the petition to suspend his life imprisonment in a three-decade custodial death case

    .
    Due to the custodial death of Prabhudas Vaishnani in November 1990, former IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been in prison in Palanpur Jail.


    In his plea before the Supreme Court, the former IPS Officer, Sanjiv Bhatt alleged that he was the scapegoat and victim of a “political vendetta’ and that the charged which was framed against him was without proper sanction from the state government.
    A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice R. Subhash Reddy and Justice M.R. Shah. They heard the matter through video conference.
    Several human right activist and organisation from India and also from abroad has requested and supplicate the Supreme Court to grant bail to the former IPS Officer Sanjiv Bhatt.


    The Supreme Court stated that they will hear the plea on this matter in January 27th.
