The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Dushyant Dave resigned from his post.
Dushyant Dave who had recently represented a few farmer Unions before the Supreme Court in the case of the constitutional challenge to the three farm acts.
He proclaimed that the Supreme Court should have declared the new farm laws unconstitutional instead of staying with them.
According to Dave, the farmer laws are unconstitutional and inconsistent. The farmers require an assurance from the government on repealing the laws. He said that the farmers are scared and worried regarding their existence. And the bill is not encouraging or sympathetic to them. He stated that the bill was passed by the parliament in a hushed manner as it is a pandemic situation. The Agricultural Procedure Market Committee (APMC) exits to provide and comforting zone to the farmers and work as a collective bargaining place where the farmers get remunerative prices for their crops. If the APMC is left to the market forces, then the framers will not get the remunerative prices which are necessary and they won’t get the cost of their production.
This will change the whole structure of agriculture in the country. Stated by the former President of Supreme Court, Dushyant Dave.
