ILLEGALLY DETAINED PEOPLE DURING FARMERS’ TRACTOR RALLY PLEA REJECTED: DELHI HIGH COURT


    A petition filed by a law graduate Harman Preet Sing advancing that nearly 200 persons were illegally detained during the protest on Republic Day. He alleged that they were arrested without any justifiable reason. He claimed that this continued detention of those people has violated the structure of liberty enshrined to them by the constitution under article 14, 21 and 22


    The court has asked him to verify the alleged facts regarding the missing people and requested him to produce affidavits of the families of all the people who have been illegally detained.
    Subsequently, the court has asked the petitioner to intricate and justify the averment and to detail the FIRs on which those people has been illegally detained.The court accounted that the advocate of the petitioner has failed to do so.


    The Delhi High Court has dismissed the Public Interest Litigation seeking the release of the people who have been illegally detained. ASG Chetan Sharma instead prayed to the court that the persons arrested should be dealt with “in accordance with law” and the court has assented to it.
